This book is dedicated to the memory of Col. (Ret.) Elazar (Lesia) Galili, the founder of the IDF's publishing systems – and its first commander between 1939-1967. In the years before the establishment of the state and in the first two decades that followed, Sia Galili was the living spirit in the creation of literary assets and research in the field of military history and war. Hundreds of books – original and translated – read by those who are hungry for knowledge and taught in military schools, serve as living testimony to Lesia Galili's enormous enterprise. The many issues of systems that began to appear underground, under different names, became under him an important pillar in the building of the Hebrew Defense Force and the IDF. The book contains essays by Lesia Galili's friends, students and admirers in the fields of military history, the building of the Hebrew force, as well as security issues that concern the public to this day.
